Meeting Hampton Roads

What a stretch. For the last 5+ weeks, I've been fully engaged in meeting the Virginia Elections requirement to have 1000 validated, registered voters from your district sign a petition to allow someone to be placed on the ballot. I hadn't done anything like that before, and I live in a pretty dense part of town, so I figured it wouldn't be a big deal. Another lesson learned for the new guy. Turns out that in the current environment, that's a pretty tall order. With the help of some great folks, we made it with some to spare, although we will be waiting for a bit for the state to confirm it. In the meantime, I want to say for the record - it was a really difficult thing, but is also THE most rewarding thing I've done as part of this campaign. Getting to meet so many people, listen to what they have to say, and sharing what this campaign is about made it all worthwhile, and I thank every person I came in touch with, even those who weren't excited to see me.

The good news - it is clearer every day that we're not alone. Every where you look you see people turning away from the Republican and Democratic parties, with their corruption and ineffectiveness and infighting. The American people want and deserve to have their political leaders and government focused on THEM, not on vanity projects, or stupid displays of a hollow machismo, or purity tests used as an excuse to cast out someone else who might think differently than you do. We've had enough, and the evidence is popping up across the country. We're getting into the thick of it here in Hampton Roads - come join us!!!
